Cinebox is a surprisingly good service, considering its currently limited to only Ahmedabad. In fact, it's inventory, 11,000 titles--five times that of a normal rental store--isn't that far behind the online market leaders. The films are currently focused on English and Hindi, but Cinebox is expanding in some other languages like Gujarati and Marathi.
Browsing is easy, with no less than 30 genres (called categories here) to choose from, though we'd prefer if these were in a sidebar to glance and choose form, vice a dropdown menu. The movie details could be a bit heavier on content. They have only a cover picture, director, cast, genre, censor, a star rating, and a short description. For a start, these fields should ideally be hyperlinked, so you can see all the films of a given director, for instance, and also it would help to have some extra info--maybe running time, format, etc.
If you pick your films before 4PM, the delivery will be made on the same day, otherwise the next working day. You just log in and click on Return Movie, and a courier will be dispatched to pick the film up and deliver your next request--simple. Cinebox claims to ship films seven days a week, except public holidays. They send an email noting when they have received a movie and send another with the anticipated time of delivery for your next discs.
Prices: Cinebox offers two unlimited plans, one disc out for Rs 349, or the more popular and economical two discs out for Rs 499, both with an initial, onetime Rs 125 membership fee. Unlike most other services, there does not appear to be a security deposit, which is a plus.
You can cancel anytime online, 24 hours a day, and there is no cancellation fee.
